I was surprised when i entered the Courthouse to find over 30 Angels still left, so yes i got 2 more, there are alot of children’s names still left.So please if you have time and your out please take the time to help these needy children and there families have a great Christmas. Thank-you, Anna Baty.
An Angel Tree to provide Christmas gifts for underprivileged children in Lawrence County will be erected soon in the Lawrence County Courthouse lobby. Second grade classes from both Hoxie and Walnut Ridge will make the decorations and hang them on the 12-foot tree on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
Pink and blue paper angels will adorn the tree, as well. On each angel a child’s first name, age and sex will be recorded. They will be available for those wishing to donate beginning Tuesday at around noon.
Those wishing to purchase a gift for a child will be encouraged to take an angel from the tree, buy a gift, wrap it and return the gift to the Lawrence County Clerk’s Office by Friday, Dec. 15. The committee asks people who plan to purchase several gifts to take more angels from the tree so all children will receive gifts rather than one child receiving several gifts.
Angel Tree Committee volunteers include: Kay Kellim, Debi Hart, Tina Stowers, Daina Witt, Judy Videll, Debbie Gillian, Glenn Hendrix, Michelle Evans, Farrah Reese, Vicki Leipert, Suzanne Allen, Ann Pulliam, Becky Holder, Michelle Rogers and Keith Ellison.
If anyone wishes to adopt an angel but is not able to come to the courthouse, they may contact the County Clerk’s Office at 886-1111. Those wishing to give cash donations to buy gifts for the children should send checks to: Angel Tree Project, c/o Lawrence County Clerk, 315 West Main Street, Room 2, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476.
